We're sorry to have to disappoint you if you've been impressed by the description of our game and have come to this page with a view to ordering the Evolution Game. Unfortunately we have decided to discontinue production for the time being. The main reason is that we've run out of some of the basic components. By 'we' I mean Phill Lewis and myself (Simon Boswell), who are the inventors and producers. It's been a very tiny operation which we carried out as a hobby, not as a business venture. We certainly still believe in the game. We have a cell of enthusiasts in Helsinki who play it almost weekly and have done so for over ten years (without ever getting tired of it)! There are now 50 copies of the game in existence spread across the globe, mainly in the US, UK, Finland and Australia. Not many by normal manufacturing standards, of course, although we understand that, as a result, similar playing 'cells' to ours have sprung up in other countries. The problem for us has been that, with the exception of the various game boards which we had professionally printed and the coloured plastic counters and dice blanks which we purchased from a games component manufacturer in England, practically everything else had to be handmade. That meant laser-printing and cutting out all of the card packs, laser printing the three versions of the rules including the quick reference version which also had to be laminated, and laboriously sticking laser-printed faces onto three blank dice for every copy of the game. Quite frankly we've got a bit tired of the job and have decided not to order any more of the colony counters or blank dice at this stage. We still have several hundred copies of the game boards and, of course, all of the computer files for making up the other components. Several times over the last years we have offered a kind of 'kit' to anyone ready to try and put the whole thing together themselves. BUT BE WARNED! It's a big job and not for the faint-hearted.
